Make the most of your LinkedIn

Online marketing is essential for many small businesses. One of the most popular online sites that small businesses use is LinkedIn. At Business Support on Demand we want you to get the most from you LinkedIn profile by putting together some useful tips.

Make your profile shine: A professional looking profile is the first step to attracting traffic to you and your business. It’s important to use this space to list your achievements and give an overview of your services. Choose an image of you that adequately reflects your business in the most professional way.

Regularly update your status: The more content you share with your audience, the more opportunity they have of engaging with you and your business.  Update your profile as regularly as possible, ideally at least once per day. Remember, your status updates must be relevant to your business to generate interest from the customers/clients you are aiming to attract.

Add links of interest: Most businesses add their website link to their LinkedIn profile. This is a generic way of promoting their business. However, a smarter way to promote your business would be to create links that are specifically targeted to your customers. For example, ‘Click here’ to reduce your business insurance.

Join groups. The best place to communicate with your target audience is to join groups that are related to your business/brand. Here you can share links, articles and raise awareness of your services. Remember, the key is not to ‘over sell’ your product, instead raise awareness and build relationships.

Create a group. Creating a group allows you to build an audience inside of LinkedIn. Here you can send messages to your targeted audience on a regular basis. By sending useful messages and articles to your group will allow you to be their go-to resource. This means the members will have confidence in you and your brand.

Email your connections.  Within LinkedIn you can directly target businesses via email. Contacting your connections directly is a great way to grab their attention and arrange appointments and meetings. Remember, the key is not to ‘over sell’ your product as you may come across as ‘pushy’ to your potential clients.
